This Creamy Avocado Pesto Gnocchi is the second recipe in my “Farmers Market Feasts” series for The Kitchn. It includes basil and green garlic I got at the farmers market near my house last week. Click on over to see the recipe, it’s a tasty one!!

thankfully science funding is not a problem, and this despite the fact that many professional scientists command multi-million dollar compensation packages and will go on strike if their wage demands aren’t met

Quantz meets hockey and finally all of my needs are met.

My boyfriend sent me this with the email subject line “Everything is science if you try hard enough.”  :-D

Penguins to get new 3rd jersey next season

puckling:

The Pens were featured in the 2008 and 2011 outdoor games — with different blue jerseys each time. And the in seasons following each Winter Classic, the jerseys were adopted as alternates and used another dozen or so times per season. Now it looks like the latest (dark blue) one is getting retired this year in favor of a new design.

I used to think that Sid was super weird for hating the third jerseys, but I have concluded he might have been right on that one.

I…really hope they’re not bringing back the robo-penguin, given that they say they’re looking back to Mario-days.  But at this point I would take even that to get rid of the current ones.  I’m not actually superstitious, but there are just so many bad memories associated with them by now that they make me twitchy.  And make Sid crazy, undoubtedly.
